Rapper and actor Curtis Jackon III, more popularly known as 50 Cent grew up in what most people would call ‘the wrong side of town.’ Curtis’ mother was only 15 years old when she gave birth to him, and to make ends meet she sold cocaine in their neighbourhood of Jamaica, Queens. When Curtis was 8 years old his mother was murdered and he went to live with his grandparents. However, young Curtis was already continuing his mother’s legacy, selling cocaine at the young age of 12.
After buying his first gun at age 16 the teenager spent much of his time in and out of jail, but the worst was yet to come. One day, while sitting in a car in front of his grandparents’ house, he was shot 9 times in a drive-by attack and was hospitalized for 2 weeks.
Luckily,Curtis left his life of crime behind and instead focused on making music,later becoming the succesful rapper we’ve come to know as 50 Cent.
