She was born Barry Kenneth Cossey and even raised as male. However, through her puberty, Cossey had distinct feminine features due to a condition known as Klinefelter’s Syndrome. This really confused her as a kid and even left school when she was 15 to work at a clothing store. And at 17 she began transitioning and finally underwent the surgery in 1974. She later began modelling and even starred in the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only (1982). Cossey is known to be the first transgender woman to feature on Playboy magazine’s front page.
