He’s known for being the first openly transgender athlete in the NCAA Division 1. He played for the women’s team representing the George Washington University while still identifying as a man. Before coming out publicly as a transgender, Kye admits that he wasn’t comfortable when the female teammates referred to him with the female pronouns. And so that’s what prompted him to undergo the reassignment surgery. He now travels across United States in high schools, colleges, and universities encouraging transgender students to know and choose whichever team they’re comfortable playing for.
